The excess abdominal skin and fat are then removed and the muscles re-approximated in the midline if indicated. Liposuction may be performed for additional contouring. A layered closure of the tissues is then performed after drains are inserted under the skin. Pain medication is administered prior to closure to minimize your postoperative pain. Tummy tuck is designed to firm and smooth the abdomen. The procedure removes excess abdominal skin and may also reduce fat and tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall.
